Minami Fish Oils, Ribosolve, Aubrey

August 2007 - Print | Index

Omega-3's are a cornerstone of proper growth and development for children and adults, yet there is considerable confusion on the part of consumers regarding healthy versus unhealthy fats. According to the International Food Information Council Foundation in the USA, two-thirds of us are concerned about the level and type of dietary fats we consume, yet less than a quarter believe that fats can be healthy.

In fish and shellfish, Eicosapentaenoic (EPA) and docosahexaenoic (DHA) acids are the major Omega-3 polyunsaturated fats and are often referred to as "very long chain" polyunsaturated fats. They are found in higher amounts in fatty fish such as halibut, mackerel, herring, salmon, tuna and anchovies. Although a plant form of Omega-3 (called alpha linolenic acid) can be consumed, only a very small percentage of it is converted to very long chain polyunsaturated fats in the body.

There's plenty of research to show that very long chain Omega-3 is the most beneficial fat for the body. The Physician's Health Study found that increasing Omega-3 intake (i.e. 1-2 servings of fish per week) reduces the risk of sudden cardiac death by more than half. The Italian GISSI study found that the consumption of Omega-3 polyunsaturated fats resulted in decreased rates of mortality, nonfatal myocardial infarction and stroke, with particular decreases in the rate of sudden death. It is uncertain exactly how marine Omega-3 protects the heart, but there is evidence it may stop the heart from beating in an irregular pattern (arrhythmias), reduces the chance of a dangerous blood clot, lowers inflammation in the blood vessels, and reduces blood triglyceride levels. The 2005 Dietary Guidelines have taken notice, recommending at least two servings of fish a week, particularly those rich in the fats EPA and DHA.

A company called Minami Nutrition has entered the fish oil market with a product range that reflects their commitment to the environment, purity, concentration and value.

Minami has created the only Environmentally Friendly Purified (EFP™) pharmaceutical grade fish oil on the market. Instead of using hexane in the distillation process, Minami uses a patented EFP™ CO2 distillation process to concentrate Omega-3 fatty acids at a temperature of 35-50° C (95-120° F). This not only means that the Omega-3 is hexane free, it also means that ~400% less heat is used, which reduces the chance that Omega-3 fatty acids are destroyed during the process and eliminates the risk of introducing transfats.

Minami Nutrition tests its own products regularly and believes firmly that it has the highest purity fish oil range on the market. The company publishes detailed analysis data on its web site (www.minami-nutrition.co.uk) for every batch of their products. Minami Nutrition follows standards that are set by the leading Omega-3 fatty acids researchers and European regulators to ensure the purity and freshness of their oils.

When shopping for Omega-3 fatty acids, it is easy to be confused by labels indicating that each capsule contains "1000mg fish oil." This does not mean you are getting 1000mg of Omega-3 fatty acids. Minami's fish oil supplements contain up to 95% Omega-3 fatty acids, whereas many other brands contain only 30% Omega-3 fatty acids. The rest is made up of "filler" containing other unnecessary products, and may sometimes even include saturated fat! Many fish oil manufacturers are happy to provide products of low concentration for what seem like great prices, but when you take into account that you will need up to three of the low concentration capsules to equal only one of Minami's, you will realize that Minami's Omega-3 supplements are also a great value.

One hexane- and toxin-free of Minami Nutrition MorEPA provides 1000mg of Hi-EPA deep-sea fish oil, which includes 581mg of EPA, 70mg of DHA, 4.5mg of Vitamin E, and a minimum of 75% Omega-3 content. A natural orange flavor is included, and the capsules have no fishy aftertaste.

For women who are pregnant or nursing, one hexane- and toxin-free Minami Nutrition MorDHA capsule provides 800mg of Hi-DHA deep-sea fish oil, including 465mg of DHA and a minimum of 75% Omega-3 content.

There's something wonderful when energy and thought converge in a moment of anticipation and you just have to run up the stairs ahead of you.

That’s how it is when using Sid Shastri’s new product, Lifamin Ribosolve.

In his book The Sinatra Solution, Dr. Stephen Sinatra proposed a way to have energy like that all the time: by speeding up the rate at which cells convert nutrients to energy, which in turn maximizes the amount of oxygen your heart extracts from your bloodstream. He found certain bioenergetic nutrients played critical roles in this process, the most important of which were Coenzyme Q10, L-Carnitine and D-ribose.

The body's energy level is determined by a very important molecule called ATP (adenosine tri-phosphate). ATP is essential in the Krebs cycle of energy, and Ribose is essential in ATP production. Our bodies create Ribose, but under various conditions -- especially cardiovascular weakness or intense exercise -- the amount created is insufficient. That’s why Dr. Sinatra's clinical studies indicated the need to supplement D-ribose, at least 2 grams per day.

Ribosolve provides 2.5 grams (2500mg) of D-Ribose. It packs other synergistic nutrients as well, such as L-Carnitine and Acetyl L-Carnitine (500mg combined), 300mg of TMG (Trimethylglycine), folic acid, pantothenic acid (Vitamin B5), Vitamin B12 and Magnesium. It has a great natural orange flavor, and you only need one tablespoon a day! One 16-ounce bottle contains 32 servings. The MSRP is $29.95 per bottle. Our discounted price is $22.95. If you are an athlete, bodybuilder, or just want to boost your energy and look after the health of your heart, you really need to try a bottle. You will be amazed by this formula. Watch out stairs!

Ribosolve does not provide CoQ10. We recommend Jarrow's QH-Absorb as an addition to Ribosolve for maximizing your energy. It's currently on sale through the end of September. See our Quarterly Specials flyer (PDF file, 180 kilobytes) to learn more.

Aubrey Organics® has always been natural, and now they're being certified organic. This first meant that the factory where all Aubrey Organics® products are made (except soap bars, which are made in France) was inspected and certified as a manufacturing facility where organic ingredients could be handled organically. Now all Aubrey Organics® ingredients are being certified one by one. Since they use herbals from around the world, hundreds and hundreds of them, this could take some time, but they're committed to organic certification because they believe it's the best way to tell their customers just how natural they are. If natural products are what you want, then Aubrey Organics® is the only hair and skin care line for you!
